Ruthie Henshall is extending her stint as Broadway’s Roxie Hart in Chicago. She will now play the merry murderess in the Tony-winning revival through July 18, instead of June 13 as originally announced. Terra C. MacLeod will return to the role of Velma Kellly on May 10.
Henshall originated the role of Roxie Hart in the 1997 London revival of
Chicago in a performance that garnered a Laurence Olivier Award nomination. Her other West End credits include
Marguerite, Oliver!, Les Miserables, Crazy for You, Miss Saigon and
Cats. Henshall played the role of Velma Kelly in Broadway's Chicago in 1999. She has also been seen on the Great White Way in
Follies, Chicago, Miss Saigon and
Putting it Together.
The current cast of
Chicago also includes Matthew Settle as Billy Flynn, Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart and Terri White as Matron "Mama" Morton.
